How is VARIOVISC® given?
VARIOVISC® is given as an injection directly into the affected knee joint. The procedure takes around 10 minutes. It is done by a physician or other qualified health care professional with knowledge and experienced in intra-articular injections.

Is VARIOVISC® injection painful?
The topical application of an anesthetic agent is usually applied before injection. The injection is relatively painless.

What happenes during VARIOVISC® injection?
First the surface is cleaned and disinfected with aseptic solution (alcohol and iodine). Doctor chooses the best technique to reach the synovial space (space between bones outlined with cartilage tissue and filled with fluid). Then, applies the topical anesthetic and goes with the needle/cannula in and slowly injects the hydrogel.

Can I repeat the treatment?
Yes. Depending on the needs the injections can be repeated after 1, 2 or 4 weeks for 2 to 3 more times.

How long will the effects of VARIOVISC® last?
The results of a VARIOVISC® last in from 6 to 12 months or longer. This depends on the patient's condition and age, the patient's lifestyle and the severity of the osteoarthritis.

What type of joints can be treated with VARIOVISC®?
VARIOVISC® is indicate for knee joint.

What types of osteoarthritis can be treated?
VARIOVISC® is indicated for treatment of mild and moderate OA (according to Kellgren-Lawrence scale grade 1, 2 and 3).

Are there any adverse events following VARIOVISC® injection?
Yes. VARIOVISC® can cause swelling and transient pain right after injection.

What happens after VARIOVISC® injection ?
After injection spot is lightly massaged to spread and optimally position the gel and adhesive bandage is applied. Patient goes home. Driving car immediately after the injections is not recommended. At home, the patient should rest and avoid strenuous activity or sports during the first few days and up to one week.

When will I start to feel pain relief?
Pain relief comes few days after injection.

Yes.
